When you look at all the towns in England you most likely will never think of Fleetwood. It's a town that is located in Lancashire and mostly known as a deep sea fishing area. At least until the industry saw a huge decline during the 70s. Now it's more of a resort area that is visited by many each year.
Settlers have been in this area for many years, some evidence has been pulled up showing as early as 2 A. D. Still more evidence has been found along the River Wyre that show Danish settlers were in this area around the ninth and tenth centuries.
There are many fabulous things to see in the town of Fleetwood. One of which is the Mount. It's a seven acre park that faces the seafront. The inland wall is built in a Fylde style and out of pebbles. It's a site to see and originally built on Tup's Hill.
Another must see in the area is the Fleetwood pier. Though most of it was destroyed back in 2008 by a fire. Once one of the shortest piers located in England at only 492 feet long. Unfortunately all that remains of it has been demolished, though the pictures of the pier in its heyday are quite impressive.
Three lighthouses ordain the shores of this location too. You should check those out as well to see something that helped many ships stay off the shores in the past. While the Fleetwood Museum will help you exam the past of this area and see what you can no longer see but in pictures.
A mostly Victorian architecture touches this town in the buildings. They are fabulous to see and offer you a sense of what times might have been like during those years. Check out Fleetwood for something new and exciting to do.
